RED FLAGS

Community Guidelines

Effective date: October 24, 2026

RedFlags Dating App: Unhinged is built on one honest idea: everyone has red flags, and owning yours is attractive. Be real, be kind, and keep each other safe. These guidelines apply to your profile, your messages and how you treat people you meet through the App, on and off it. They are part of our Terms of Service.

Your profile

You must be 18 or older

Lying about your age, or giving the impression you are under 18, is not allowed. We may ask you to prove your age, and we remove accounts that belong to anyone under 18.

Be yourself

Keep contact details off your profile

No phone numbers, emails, links, social media or messaging handles (Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, Snapchat and so on), and no M-Pesa or till numbers. Swap details in chat once you trust someone. Our system blocks most of these automatically.

What we don’t allow

Nudity and sexual content

No nude, sexually explicit or vulgar photos or text on profiles. No selling, buying or advertising sex, sexual content or “sugar” arrangements.

Bullying, harassment and abuse

No insulting, belittling, threatening or intimidating anyone, no unwanted comments about someone’s body, no blackmail, and no repeated contact after someone has made it clear they aren’t interested.

Sexual harassment

No unwanted sexual messages, comments or images (including unsolicited nude photos), no sharing or threatening to share someone’s intimate images, and no fetishising people for who they are.

Child sexual exploitation

Zero tolerance. Any content that sexualises or endangers anyone under 18, real or fictional, leads to permanent removal and a report to the authorities. See our Child Safety Standards.

Hate

No content or behaviour that attacks, dehumanises or excludes people because of their race, ethnicity, tribe, nationality, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, health condition or religion, and no praise for hate groups.

Violence and threats

No threats, no encouraging or praising violence, no stalking, no helping anyone exploit or traffic people, and no sexual assault of any kind. No graphic or gory images, and no photos showing guns (except uniformed police or military).

Terrorism and violent extremism

No content that supports, promotes or glorifies terrorist or violent extremist groups or acts.

Scams, fraud and money requests

No asking for or offering money, M-Pesa, airtime, gifts, loans, “investments” or crypto, and no faking interest in someone to get anything from them. If someone asks you for money, report them: genuine matches don’t.

Selling and promotion

The App isn’t a marketplace. No advertising, selling, recruiting or promoting businesses, events, pages or other apps.

Drugs and illegal goods

No buying, selling or promoting illegal drugs, weapons or other illegal goods, or misusing prescription drugs.

Fake profiles and impersonation

No pretending to be someone else, using someone else’s photos (catfishing) or lying about who you are.

Harmful false information

No spreading clearly false information that could cause serious harm, for example about health or elections.

Self-harm

You can talk about your own experiences safely, but no content that encourages or glorifies suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. If you’re struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or a local helpline.

Spam and gaming the App

No bulk or copy-paste messages, misleading links, bots, scripts, scraping, fake accounts or multiple accounts. If we have removed your account, don’t create a new one: we remove accounts that try to get around a ban.

Swearing and banter

This is an unhinged app: everyday swearing and spicy banter are fine, as long as they aren’t aimed at hurting someone. If a person asks you to stop, stop.

Reporting and what happens next

If anyone makes you uncomfortable or breaks these rules, report them from the chat menu (⋮) or from their profile. Reporting also blocks them, so they can no longer see you or message you. Reports are confidential: the person is never told who reported them.

Our team reviews every report. We may remove content, warn the member, suspend the account or ban the phone number from coming back, and, where the law requires it or someone is in danger, work with the police. We may act on behaviour that happens outside the App too, for example on a date or over text.

Please only report real problems. Disagreeing with someone or not liking their red flags isn’t a reason to report them, and false reports (for example reporting someone just for their gender identity) can themselves lead to action.

Think we got it wrong? Email support@unhingedredflags.com and we will take another look.
